Ministry in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is a largely Muslim nation, with only a small
minority of the people being Christian. But
the church is growing. In 1987 there
were 12 Assembly of God churches. Today
there are 350. We were privileged to
minister for three days at a pastors conference for the Central District of
Bangladesh in a village seven hours by car and ferry outside the capital city of
Dhaka. The village had only dirt
paths—no roads for vehicles. The
pastors were warm and enthusiastic. What
a wonderful experience the pastors conference was for us!
In Bangladesh there are 68,000 villages like this one.
Since Bangladesh is a Muslim rather than a Christian
country, church services are held on Friday evening rather than Sunday morning,
because Sundays are work days there. The
Sunday service is held in the late afternoon.
On Sunday afternoon Galen preached at Bethel Church in Dhaka.
We are grateful for the privilege of ministering to the people of that
great nation.
