The nation of Myanmar (called Burma by the United States and other nations) is a fascinating nation. Exciting changes are coming to that nation! This country has for many years been out of the mainstream of life in Asia, but in the past few years significant progress has been made. Democracy is being reintroduced. Freedoms are being expanded. Economic progress is returning. This has also affected the church in this largely Buddhist nation. In the past, the church could only have assemblies inside their church buildings. Now they can rent public arenas for Christian meetings, and each Christmas thousands of Christians have gathered to celebrate the birth of their Savior. Assemblies of God believers now number around 120,000.
We have made nine trips to Myanmar and have taught several times in that country. Several APTS graduates have returned to Myanmar and are having significant ministries there. It is always a pleasure to go to that country and see those that we have come to know and love while they were our students at APTS.
